FUTUREWISE – Fuelling the Future:
Innovative Solutions for Waste-to-Energy and Valuable, Technology and Sustainability Life Cycle Assessment.

ANNOTATION

FutureWise is a newly established, multi-institutional research center supported by the Israeli Council for Higher Education (VATAT). We are a consortium of leading researchers from six prominent Israeli academic and medical institutions dedicated to solving one of the world’s most pressing challenges: the transition to sustainable energy and the reduction of organic waste.

Canonical replacement fuels derived from fossil sources are critical for society’s decarbonization and long-term sustainability. Our mission is to develop next-generation renewable fuel technologies for aviation, shipping, and land transport. By utilizing organic waste as our primary resource, our processes aim to substantially outperform current state-of-the-art standards in emissions reduction, conversion efficiency, and cost competitiveness. We aim to reduce landfill volumes and transform municipal and organic waste into a valuable resource, driving the circular economy forward.

Our interdisciplinary work is divided across several integrated work packages, driving innovation from the laboratory to national policy:

Mapping the organic fraction from MSW: Mapping the potential organic fraction from municipal solid waste and wastewater planets and developing advance sensor-based separation technology of the organic fraction.

Advanced Waste-to-Energy Technologies: Optimizing advance circular economic processes (AD, HTC, HTL, Gasification and incineration) to convert various organic waste types into biocrude and valuable materials in an efficient and eco-friendly methods.

Catalyst & Fuel Development: Engineering specialized catalysts for biocrude upgrading and rigorous biofuel testing to ensure optimal fuel performance, stability, and minimal corrosiveness.

Sustainability (Life Cycle Assessment (LCA)) and profetably (Techno-Economic Assessment (TEA)): Conducting comprehensive evaluations of the supply chain, environmental impacts, and the development of a National Waste-to-Energy Conversion Strategy for Israel up to 2035.

Health & Environmental Safety: Monitoring process emissions, evaluating health effects, and developing platforms for water decontamination and biomass de-ashing.

FutureWise is not just about laboratory research; we are actively engaging with policymakers, industry leaders, and the industry to implement our findings and disrupted the traditional linear waste management method. Through international conferences, policy briefs, and demonstration systems, we are charting the roadmap for a sustainable, energy-independent future.

Adam Kaminsky, Environmental and bioengineering researcher specializing in waste and wastewater.

Currently pursuing an PHD in mechanical and environmental engineering department at Tel Aviv university – developing advance continuous hydrothermal liquefication system.

M.Sc. graduate in Environmental Studies at Porter School for environmental, Tel Aviv University. B.Sc. graduate in Polymer Materials Engineering from Shenkar College.

To ensure our solutions are globally relevant and industry-ready, we maintain active collaborations with WtERT (The Global Consortium on Waste-to-Energy Conversion with Resource Recovery), NOGA – Israeli energy manager, Green-Oil Energy, and various stakeholders across the energy, manufacturing, and waste management sectors.
