The produced heating-energy (around 1.5 million megawatt hours per year) is fed into the district heating network all year round.<\/p>\n

At site \u201cSimmeringer Haide\u201d almost 100,000 tonnes of household waste, 110,000 tonnes of commercial and industrial waste (including hazardous waste) and over 225,000 tonnes of sewage sludge are processed in the special waste and sewage sludge incineration plant in an environmentally friendly way. The plant has approval to collect and treat almost any type of waste. The most notable exceptions are radioactive.
\nSince being commissioned in 1980, the thermal treatment, flue gas and waste water purification facilities have undergone successive improvements, expansions and modifications to bring them in line with the latest technological developments.<\/p>\n

To ensure those processes adequate maintenance is necessary, therefore, Wien Energie uses different strategies for the maintenance of assets.
\nAt plant Simmeringer Haide a mix of corrective and preventive measures were establishes at the main assets like rotary kilns and fluidised bed furnaces depending on their criticality levels (based on risk assessments), including predictive maintenance.
\nA data based predictive maintenance approach was developed i.e. at rotary kiln. During development, a lot of data, informations, knowledge and experience were gained. Bernhard Jurin studied Environmental-Engineering. After years in the building services business, he joined the pharmaceutical industry. There he was responsible for the department of several technical units, like the unit for thermal disinfection of laboratory wastewater, a sewage treatment plant, general infrastructure including media, production media as well as biotechnological process equipment. He was also on the council of the global biologic maintenance leadership team, as well as the global maintenance team at a global player in pharmaceutical business.

Wien Energie offers heating, cooling and decentralized products such as citizen investment models directly. Electricity and gas are sold via the subsidiary Wien Energie Vertrieb GmbH & Co KG.<\/p>\n

With a turnover of EUR 1,440,0 million (2018), Wien Energie can be counted among Austria\u2019s top 30 companies in terms of turnover. In the 2018 financial, Wien Energie GmbH employed an average of 2,251 employees in the various different company divisions.<\/p>\n
